Math Prerequisite “B” or better in Geometry. It is recommended that students concurrently enroll in Precalculus or Calculus. Additional Prerequisite: Grade of “B” or better in Intro to Engineering Design Honors (991) and in Principles of Engineering Honors (992). In addition, completion of one or more specialization courses, 993, 994, 997, or 998, with a “B” or better. This is the PLTW capstone course. It is an engineering research course in which students may work in teams to research, design, and construct a solution to an open-ended engineering problem. Students apply principles developed in the preceding PLTW courses to solve design problems. They must present progress reports, submit a final presentation, and defend their solutions to a panel of reviewers at the end of the school year. Students who complete the course and the national exam with high achievement are eligible to receive college credit from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Grade weighted upon successful completion of course.
