Recommended prerequisite: Successful completion of Basic Foods (834). In this course, students will learn that nutrition plays an integral part in developing a lifestyle that leads to wellness and personal fitness. Making sure you get proper nutrition involves understanding what nutrients are contained in foods and how your body uses them. Students will study the six basic nutrients in detail and use food preparation skills to prepare nutritional recipes that are appropriate to the current aspect of nutrition being taught. Completing a personal dietary analysis project will help students make personal nutritional goals that will benefit them now and in the future.
